CHILDLINE CHILDREN'S PARTY
With happiness and joy, the team of North Goa Childline
Collaborative organisation and City Coordinator were present at Margaret Bosco
Bal Sadan (MBBS), Paliem, Uccassaim on the 14th November 2012, to
welcome our little guests for the Children’s Day celebration. 175 Children from
the neighbourhood, Bastora Parish, Ish Kripa Sadan, Siolim and Korlim, Tiswadi,
had a enjoyable day at MBBS.
The programme began with the
registration of children, followed by serving of snacks and soft drinks, after
which all the invitees and the Chief Guest were felicitated. The invitees were
the Director of Childline Collaborative Organisation, Rev. Fr. Maverick
Fernandes, the Rector of Don Bosco MBBS, Rev. Fr. Thomas Fernandes, Sarpanch
and Panch Members of Ucassaim and Bastora, PPC moderator of Ucassaim and Rev.
Fr. John Fernandes, Parish Priest of Bastora was the Chief Guest. As the Chief Guest celebrated his birthday on
Children’s Day, he joined the little ones in cutting the cake. A few volunteers
from other countries rendered their services.
Dr. Kiran S. Kerkar (MC) conducted games and made it a day full of
fun and excitement for the children...!
The children were then served a sumptuous lunch, after which, the games
continued, in groups. The programme
ended at about 4.30p.m. with the distribution of cake, sweets and
take-aways.
CHILDLINE is a project of the Ministry of Women and
Child Welfare (GOI) in partnership with the State Government, NGO’s, concerned
individuals and children. It is a national;
24 hours free emergency Telephone Helpline and Outreach Service for Children in
need of care and protection. The CHILDLINE number 1098 is a toll free number that is common in all the cities of
India, operational in 200 cities.
Childline has over the years played a significant role in preventing
children from abuse and rescuing and rehabilitating them. This service has made
a difference in the lives of many children. Presently Childline in Goa
functions in North Goa at Nirmala Institute of Education (Nodal), Altinho,
Panaji, (Collab North) at Caritas Goa, Panjim and (Support Organisation) at Jan
Ugahi, Margao.
CHILDLINE Se DOSTI
Week (November 14th -20th) is a week-long Awareness Campaign mainly organised
to make ordinary citizens Stakeholders in CHILDLINE 1098. The ostensible purpose of this campaign is
to generate a Million ‘Dosts” (friends) for CHILDLINE and acquaint people with
Child Rights and Protection. It is organised with the objective to reach out
to people of all walks of life to get to know CHILDLINE, begin to care about
vulnerable children and initiate action towards change. Thus it is a
step forward to achieve our vision of a ‘child-friendly’ nation.
