desecration of the statue of First Konknni Martyr Floriano Vaz

Dalgado Konknni Akademi (DKA) expresses its shock and sadness at the desecration of the statue of First Konknni Martyr Floriano Vaz, which is erected at the intersection in Gogol, Margao.

On 20th December, 1986 Floriano Vaz was shot dead at Margao during the height of Konknni movement. Inorder to remember his supreme sacrifice, Thomas Stephens Konknni Kendr (TSKK) of Porvorim has instituted ‘Konknni Martir Floriano Vaz Puroskar’ which has been given every year since 2006.  

DKA calls upon the government to take stern action against those who desecrated the statue and bring the culptrits to book, and at the same time strongly demands that the desecrated statue of Konknni first martyr must be re-erected by the government immediately.
