DKA to celebrate Gandhi Jayanti with 5th edition of ‘OTLOLIM BHAVNAM’
On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti on October 2, Dalgado Konknni Akademi (DKA) in collaboration with Goa State Central Library, Panaji will be organizing its bi-monthly poets meet ‘OTLOLIM BHAVNAM’, wherein young, promising and prominent Konknni poets will be presenting their poems. This time, the poems will mainly focus on the eternal truths which Mahatma Gandhi applied to his daily life and who once said that ‘he had nothing new to teach the world’ since ‘truth and non-violence were as old as the hills.’Dr. Prakash Vazrikar, Director of Directorate of Official Language, Govt. of Goa, has consented to be the chief guest and DKA President Premanand A. Lotlikar will preside over the function.
The programme will be held at the Lecture Hall of Krishnadas Shama Goa State Central Library, Panaji, at 4.00 pm. This is the fifth edition of Otlolim Bhavnam with earlier meets held in Margao, Panaji, Selaulim Botanical Garden and Dr. Francisco Luis Gomes District Library, Margao.
A 6-minute documentary, The Man from Gahlour, on the life of Dasrath Manjhi will also be screened before the commencement of the poets meet. Popularly known as Mountain Man, Dasrath Manjhi single-handedly persevered for 22 years with only a hammer and a chisel to cut through a mountain in Bihar, thereby reducing the 70 km distance between Atri and Wazirganj blocks of the Gaya district to just 7 kms. The documentary is written and directed by Robina M Gupta.
All, especially DKA members and Konknni lovers are kindly requested to attend the function.
