‘Tum Ani Hanv Mellonk’
Navhind Times Audio Review by J P Pereira ‘Tum ani hanv mellonk’
Every once in a while, a good music album is released. ‘Tum Ani Hanv Mellonk’ an audio presentation from Jerry and Joanita has a stamp of class on the 12 tracks. Great lyrics, pleasant music and fine rendition. Jerry de Souza, from Salvador do Mundo/Chorao is based in Dubai. He is the son of Johnny Sylvester and Maria Zeferina. Radio listeners will remember Konkani songs, rendered by Johnny Sylvester, over the AIR Panaji. He was also an ace with the accordion. Jerry had released ‘Ek Uzvadd Tum’ an audio album with some delightful songs, a couple of years back. The new presentation is equally enjoyable.
Lorna begins in style, with the catchy ‘Panchve Panchve Dongor’, describing the destruction of Goa and pleading ‘zata zalear, mhaka ditai zalear, mhojem adlem Goem mhaka zai’. ‘Jea Arxean Tum Disonaim’ is a touching tale of lost love, by Nephie Rod with Jerry, ‘Devacho Hukum Nastana’ by Aniceto pulls at your heartstrings (pay attention to the lyrics) and ‘Daddy Daddy Vochonaka’ has Jerry and his daughter Joanna telling of the important father-daughter relationship.
‘Konnem Eklean Sanglem’ is by Lawry, ‘Sang Cheddva’ a duet by Felcy with Aniceto laments the misuse of women by certain men, ‘Tuzo Sorg’ by Nephie Rod tells of a cheating husband while ‘Nimanni Bhett’ by Felcy with Lawry is a song of true love.
The title track by Jerry is a dedication to the bride, Noulam tells of modern times and is rendered in style by Lorna and ‘Bogsonnem’ from Joanna and Jerry is a prayer for forgiveness. The album ends with the lively ‘Tum’, an ode to a loving husband from Nephie Rod. And, one is sure to play the disc again!
Maestro Josinho provides great backing to the singers, with some pleasant arrangements and fillers. The attractively designed sleeve adds quality to the entire package.

Navhind Times Audio Review: Some pleasing songs to hear by J P Pereira
Sometimes, unknown budding artistes create a surprise. ‘Ek Uzvadd Tum’ an audio presentation from Jerry and Joanita, released by V P Sinari’s, Panaji, is an example.
Lorna begins the programme with ‘Utor’, advising on the importance of keeping one’s word. Felcy and Jerry sing ‘Nidon Utton Ailaim’, a tussle between sister and brother followed by a superb ‘Koxe Ukollet Paim’ by Jerry. ‘Sokaim Sanje Cuznan’ by Joanita and Lawry is humorous, while ‘Ek Uzvadd Tum’ by Jerry is a dedication of love from a father to his newborn daughter.
Lorna sings ‘Uzvadd Ailo Porot’, Felcy and Young Chico continue with ‘Mhaka Daddlant Fulam’ (listen to the song to know what it is all about) and Lawry’s ‘Piso Kor’ is about a youth duped in a marriage. The importance of children is described in a novel way by young Chico and Jerry on ‘Aum Khuim Chuklom’, Lorna renders and ode to God the Holy Spirit on ‘Follam’ and ‘Makach Khobor Nasli’ by Felcy and Jerry is about the importance of trust, in a marriage. Young Chico winds up the album with ‘Jezu Zaun Assa’ and one tends to reach for the ‘play’ button, to hear the songs all over again.
Josinho has provided beautiful backing music with some great arrangements. What can one say about an album like this… just go ahead and buy it. The album is a must for your collection!!!
