Tour from Goa to Amboli, Kolhapur, Panhalgad, Jyotiba and back - Part I

We took a break from our work schedules, away from the the beaches of Goa, away from home. After a lot of cancellations and postponements, our trip was finally finally finalised on 22nd Afternoon and we left Goa on the same evening at 7 p.m.
We spent the night at Amboli guest house (a famous hill station). The next morning after our breakfast, we left for Kolhapur. We reached Kolhapur at noon. My friends visited the temple at Kolhapur and then some shopping there. We had our lunch at a restaurant there. Later we visited a Palace of Shahu Maharaj. It was a dip into the history of the great rulers of the land. Later in the evening we left from Kolhapur and proceed to Panhalgad. Panhalgad is 20 kilometres northwest of Kolhapur in Maharashtra. We reached Panhalgad around 6 p.m. its located at After getting to our guest house and keeping our luggage and getting fresh we relaxed there for a bit. We had our dinner at a resort there. Early next morning after breakfast we did the sight seeing in around Panhalgad . As we did not know much of the place, we took assistance of a local guide Mr. Patil, who explained to us in detail to the the history of the place. He was very helpul and had a lot of patience to bears as we kept irritating him with our clumsy questions. After finishing Panhalgad , we proceeded towards Joytiba. My friends offered prays at the temple and later we left from Kolhapur . My friends still wanted to do shopping as Kolhapur . So as they shopped we went on lookup for a nice place for lunch, as we were not happy with out last lunch in Kolhapur. We got a very good restaurant and we relished the Mutton Biryani served to us. After our lunch we left Kolhapur to return to Goa via Amboli Ghat. We had a brief halt at the Amboli waterfalls. We reached home around 9 p.m. It was a great trip which was filled with fun & laughter and fights are usual :-). Our trip from Goa to Amboli to Kolhapur to Punala to Joytiba and back to Goa Via Kolhapur and Amboli was nick named "Short Cut - Trip"

  1. Wow..you must have had a wonderful journey to so many places. Mahalakshmi temple is one of famous temple in Kolhapur city and as far as accommodation is concerned, there are plenty of Kolhapur hotels for travellers.

  2. I think you have been to goa via ajra marg, there are also two marg via radhanagri and gaganbawda but ambolibis the most breathtaking place in whole konkan. Amboli ghat is the the place where you can free your tension and just relax, these chat turns into heaven during monsoon, so visit it specially during June, July or August. By the way I live in sawantwadi just 28 km from amboli ghat. So I have been there lots of times. Now a days it is becoming the best tourist hotspot
